The Pakistani society is indeed very male-dominated. From deciding on the fate of a girl child to be buried alive to leaving behind everything else in a race to earn money, men is accused of so many wrongdoings. But is it always so? I don’t think so. A more recent example is of a drama serial Pujaran on TV One that came as an eye opener for me.
Pujaran is a story of a greedy woman, Madiha, whose only objective in life is to get easy money. For that matter, she uses her innocence and beauty to trap men. One of those victims is Ramis, who falls for Madiha’s plan after being inspired by her exceptional looks. But this just doesn’t end here, in fact, this is the beginning of a dark story that shows how Madiha risks everyone’s life just because of her filthy intentions. Later, she finds out that she has developed feelings for her brother in law, Abis (Ramis’ brother). Despite knowing that Abis is into to her best friend, Haniya, Madiha is not afraid of moving ahead with her ‘love’. Upon realizing that he is getting close to Madiha, Abis finds himself in a very tough and difficult situation because he is the kind of person who abhors deceit and cannot stand anyone who betrays. The teasers were launched in a star-studded bloggers’ meet up where the cast and crew of Pujaran, other celebrities and bloggers were invited.
Needless to say some TV channel has come up with a unique concept after a long time. Now it would be interesting to see how things take a turn from here. I am already excited to watch the teasers and have a lot of expectations from this drama and TV One. Fingers crossed!
